This week is Engineers week. This year’s Engineer Week is focused on volunteerism and making a world of difference. Many times we get caught up with work and private life that we forget about those less fortunate than us. While many may be tight, there are many ways that you can give back just by giving of your time and energy. Here is a short list of some ways that you can help out:
- Volunteer at Boys and Girls Club
- Find an afterschool/weekend program where you can tutor younger students
- Habitat for Humanity. There are many local groups that always need volunteers as well as teams that travel to other states or countries to build houses.
- Help raise money for a good cause. This can be breast cancer, Aids, MS disease or my favorite the Polar Bear plungeto raise money for the Special Olympics.
This year, I will be taking on the Atlantic Ocean and raising money for the NJ Special Olympics. It looks crazy and insane, but once your lined up on that beach with 3500 strangers and morepeople than that lined up cheering you on, you get this crazy adreneline rush that helps you over power this cold. This year I hope that you can come join me for a run into the ocean or at least donate to the NJ Special Olympics in support of the good deeds they do.
